Support workers are trained to meet the client's needs that may involve some of the following activities such as:

  • Personal care, hygiene, grooming
  • Menu planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation
  • House maintenance
  • Safety while providing recreation/leisure outings
  • Community involvement
  • Transportation
  • Budgeting
  • Administering of medication
  • First aid and medical assistance under the direction of guardian/physician
  • Employement supports
  • Volunteer supports

 

All support workers work together with the guardian, the client and CPLF to promote a quality lifestyle for our clients. There are 3 different types of supports that are provided to our client's are:

  • Community/Day Support workers typically work on an hourly basis and encourage and assist the client(s) with mental health experience to work various shifts evenings, weekends, nights, and days. Community Support Workers provide direct support to adults with developmental disabilities and accompanying mental health, social, emotional and behavioral concerns. The successful candidate will provide support in all areas of daily living, home management, community involvement, relationship building, as well as mental health and behavioral support.

    Qualifications: A diploma or Degree in Disability Studies, Rehabilitation, or a related field, or 1-2 years of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.

  • Residential Support workers can live in the client's home or the client can live in the support worker's home.  No matter what the case, this type of employment requires 24/7 responsibility for our client, and compensation is specified in a contract.  

  • Respite Workers provide supports of 24 hour intervals for client(s) in the support workers home or in the clients home. This is usually done on a weekend for a 48 hour period.
